Class Description

This class will cover Trane and American Standard S Series Troubleshooting issues. Using desktop trainers and mobile furnaces, students will troubleshoot some of the most common problems and trouble codes for the S series furnace. This class is designed for students that have been in the field and understand basic troubleshooting. Students should already have skills checking voltage, amperage, and resistance. Most of the class time will be spent working hands on testing components and building critical thinking skills. Course objectives: S-Series Furnace Trouble Codes and Troubleshooting, Power Supply Problems, Troubleshooting S8B1 Furnace, Troubleshooting S8X1, Troubleshooting S8X2 Furnace, Troubleshooting S9X1, Troubleshooting S9X2, Troubleshooting S9V2.

Prerequisites: Understanding of Wiring Diagrams, Basic Heating, Electrical Fundamentals, and S-Series Furnace class.

Target Audience: This class is best for intermediate and experienced technicians that have some basic troubleshooting skills and need to advance their skills on the S-Series Furnace. Beginners will find it difficult to keep up in class and no basic skill will be covered.

This class has hands-on skill building.

Charles Wilkerson
Charles Wilkerson has been in the HVAC industry for 30 years. Starting out as a maintenance technician and working his way to lead technician. Charles found a passion in education and training for the HVAC industry where he became an instructor for a local community college. During that time Charles was able to build heating and cooling training programs from the ground up. He recognized the need for Training and Support in the Field. Following education, Charles became a General Manager of a small heating and cooling company where he was faced with the same training and support needs that most dealers face. Charles is committed to bringing education, training, and support to the next generation of service technicians through his employment with the O’Connor company.
Patrick Fetters
Patrick has been in the HVAC industry for 23 years as an installer and service technician in the residential and commercial sides. Patrick has his Master's mechanical license, NATE Certifications, and backup generator certifications. His area of expertise is troubleshooting and designing applications of HVAC equipment.
